Hand Knit Baby Poncho

Here's a hand knit baby poncho from Lion Brand. I have been meaning to make one of these for my g'son but haven't gotten to it yet. These are sooo cute!! & easy to hand knit., but I am going to adapt it to the machine, & see if I can knit it in a worsted weight yarn on my SR 860. I esp. like the little pocket on the front.  

I haven't done much knitting the past weekend. I have been busy reorganizing my knitting room. I have taken down one of my standard gauge machines & also my bulky.  I am still working in there, but I hope to have it finished up today. I left my long bed machine up. 

 I am moving things around in there to get some more space. I have a heat press that I use to print Tee-Shirts. Also, sewing machine, serger, linker, & embroidery machine. & 2 yarn trees so there isn't much room t0  maneuver around. 

My g'son has been here all week. We were watching the show 'Hoarders" on TV when he piped up with 'G'ma, you're a yarn hoarder!!'  Yes, I am. LOL But I love all of my yarn & am working to get it under control. I have seen worse, but I don't think it's a bad thing. I wonder if they have a 12 step program for 'yarn hoarders'?? 

Baby Bunting Finished

Here is the finished baby bunting. It needs some blocking but my steamer went out so have ordered a new one. I put this in the washer & will see if it helps any. I might try a little steam when the new steamer comes, before I send the bunting off.

This bunting snaps down the front for a bag like bunting or can be snapped up a little differently to form legs so baby can wear it in a car seat. It is made from Millor Vellon, no longer produced, & takes about 4-5 hours to knit & sew up. The snaps are from Snap Source (their link is on the left side of the blog) in baby pink. The Vellon is a fuzzy yarn & a good fit for this project. Also, am making a baby blanket but haven't decided yet whether I am doing a tuck, slip or G-Carriage blanket. I plan on doing a romper with booties & mitts too. This is a little heavy for a romper but I think it will work out okay. 

I embroidered a little pink lamb on the front of the bunting & it turned out to be just what it needed. You can't see the lamb very well in the picture, but it made a cute addition.    

    

This little hat is crocheted & is a lot of fun for baby to wear. It is a very simple project for someone just learning to crochet. I sold these hats on Ebay for 6 years, & am going to put them back up on my site. The book is called "Happy Hats" by Michele Wilcox & is put out by 'Needlecraft'. She has a total of seven hats of different animals & insects. Turtle, ladybug, pig, mouse, bear, bumble bee & snowman. I made so many of these hats that I think I could crochet one in my sleep!! I like to use a soft yarn as it is around baby's face & didn't want harsh yarn to be uncomfortable & scratchy.  

We have a New Baby!!!

We have a new baby born June 4, the day before Fathers Day. He was 6lbs 4oz & 18" long. His name is Erik Jr & his parents are calling him Junior. I'm calling him Ricky. LOL He has brown eyes & dark hair & very handsome!! He has a ton of new baby clothes, more than he can ever wear. Also, I have knitted him some sweaters for the cooler weather & can't wait to try them on him. He was delivered in Salt Lake City, Utah in the early morning. Mom did very well & was happy to finally have baby in her arms. Dad was just as excited & happy, & held him too.
